A night bubble show is a live outdoor performance in which hundreds of thousands of soap bubbles are lit by colored LED lights and released into the night sky in time with music. Bubble Works (known in Japan as “Shabondama Ojisan”) has performed night bubble shows at more than 200 venues across Japan — festivals, theme parks, shopping malls, hot-spring resorts, beaches and hotels. No fire, no gunpowder and no venue power are needed. Plans start from ¥400,000 (excl. tax).

What is a night bubble show?
A night bubble show turns an ordinary bubble performance into a nighttime spectacle. After dark, stage lights in blue, red and green shine through the bubbles, so each one glows and changes color as it floats. Large bubble machines fill the sky with small bubbles, while performers in Japanese kimono create giant bubbles by hand with a garland wand. The show is choreographed to music and usually runs 15–30 minutes (for example, two 15-minute shows in one evening).
Unlike fireworks, the audience does not watch from a distance. The bubbles drift right over the crowd, so children and adults can reach out, touch them and take photos — an immersive experience that works for every age and needs no translation.

The festival finale combined our night bubble show with fireworks. The festival drew about 80,000 visitors (Aug 1, 2026).

Night bubble show vs. fireworks
A night bubble show is not a replacement for fireworks — it is often booked together with them, as at Sanda Matsuri and Romanticmura. But where fireworks are difficult, it offers a nighttime highlight with far fewer conditions.

All plans include LED lights, sound, bubble machines and battery power, plus setup, the performance and teardown. Travel and accommodation are added at cost, based on the distance from our base in Himeji, Hyogo. Quotes are free.

Cancellation: ¥0 if the show is cancelled for heavy rain or wind of 6 m/s or more. In light rain we decide together with the organizer. For cancellations for other reasons: 50% of the fee from 30 to 8 days before, 80% from 7 days before to the event day.

About Bubble Works (Shabondama Ojisan)
Bubble Works is a team of bubble artists in Japanese kimono, based in Himeji, Hyogo. The lead artist and director is Yoshifumi Nomura, known as “Shabondama Ojisan” (the Bubble Man), who has been making bubbles since 2009. Including daytime shows, the team has performed at more than 600 venues across Japan.

How much does a night bubble show cost?
Plans start at ¥400,000 (excl. tax) for small events, ¥500,000 for mid-size events and from ¥1,000,000 for large festivals. Lights, sound, power and staff are included; travel and accommodation are added at cost based on the distance from Himeji.
Do we need a power supply or a fireworks permit?
No. We bring portable batteries for all lights and sound, and the show uses no fire or gunpowder, so fire or police permits are generally not required. You only need permission to use the venue.
What happens if it rains?
The show is cancelled in heavy rain or wind of 6 m/s or more, and the cancellation fee is ¥0. In light rain we decide together with the organizer. A backup date can also be arranged.
Can you perform anywhere in Japan?
Yes. We travel nationwide from our base in Himeji, Hyogo, and have performed from Tokyo and Kanagawa to Tottori, Ehime and Hiroshima. Parks, beaches, parking lots, campsites and resorts all work.
Is the bubble solution safe?
Yes. The surfactant content is 3% or less, and we carry liability insurance. We ask organizers to lay a ground sheet over the performance area.
